thanks to netkas, QECI for ATI 4890 is now ready for 10.6.7

you can get it from Zeus if you update via Update button

I would just like to state a a fact that most articles have missed:
TRIM in Lion beta is only for Apple SSD.

This patch works in Lion beta to add support for all SSD’s. So unless Apple changes anything, this patch will become really useful in the future and not just a way to get TRIM a couple of months earlier right now. I hope though that this patch proves to everyone that it is simple to add TRIM support for any brand of SSD and that it will put pressure on Apple on removing their “Apple SSD only” restriction for TRIM in Lion.

Whats new:

  • Fixes problems with long boot times
  • Restore driver button
  • Backup driver button
  • Automatic updates

Will add a page for TRIM Enabler explaining the app…

Download

Did you already patch and don’t have backup to restore?
You can try using Restore and selecting Default driver.

some people have been asking for some new functions for TRIM Enabler, I am working on this. It will include Disable button, automatic updates, and will also fix the issue some people have had with longer boot times.

one thing to remember is that some SSD need a firmware upgrade before TRIM will work, so if it still doesnt work for you, check manufacturers website. make sure the disk supports TRIM at all.

Apparently PC 6870 works just fine in Mac Pro – without flashing

All you need is updated drivers pulled from Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.7 build

Drivers here:
Download

No boot screen though.

Perhaps this means we will have much easier use of PC graphic cards in next OSX, Lion.

as for QECI for 4890 for 10.6.7, it will come when it comes, don’t update yet if QECI is important to you. as soon as it’s out, zeus will be updated with it.

lately it has been discovered that new macbook pro has problems with new ATI GPU, it freezes if you try overloading it.

http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/21/2011-macbook-pros-crashing-under-load/

this is something I’ve been waiting for, because if the problem lies in the firmware, Apple will release a firmware patch that can be modified for Zeus to allow ATI 6000-series flashing.

UPDATE:
Apple says:
“we are sure that this IS an firmware/driver related problem”

we’ll see

Finally updated Zeus page to reflect the new version.

Golden Guide is out of date and removed. A link to it can still be found on the Zeus page.
