in the middle of school exams + releasing an iPhone app atm
if you wanna try out beta for trim enabler for lion, here:
SSD utility test version
about the only thing that works in that version is “Enable trim” button, it will generate a TRIM kext at your desktop. install it with kexthelper and see if it works, and report back here.
note that this is in-development, don’t try on your work computer.
if something goes wrong, it’s easy to restore in Lion, boot backup partition and use terminal to mount mac hd, copy kext from backup partition to mac hd extension folder. if you don’t know what “cp”, “cd” and “terminal” is, then don’t try this at home kids.

Wish you luck with all your tasks, man.
the script worked, running MBP 5.4 with Vertex 2 but your SSD utility says that trim hasn’t been enabled but in Sysstem preferences is says: TRIM: Yes. Runnign OSX Lion 10.7.2
I thought version 2.0 will work without replacing kext!? When will we see the final version?
It’s already working without replacing kext.
Earlier TRIM Enabler distributed a pre-hacked kext which it installed. This was troublesome, because if you updated to a new OS version and repatched, you installed an old kext.
this version copy’s your OWN kext to desktop, and patches it live. that way it makes sure you always have the correct version of the kext, and it makes sure Trim enabler will work on future OS updates.
hopefully the finished version will edit the kext right in your extensions folder, however I am finding this is troublesome to do in Objective-C because of permissions. so for now it copies it to the desktop first.
Worked seamless
Intel SSD 320 160G
Thanx!
I own a Macbook 6.1 with Samsung 470 SSD and it worked.
I keep my fingers crossed because it’s my main computer.
Works OK with my Intel X25-M G2 and MB 466
What is different between TRIM Enabler 2.0 and TRIM Enabler 1.2?
If you have a non-Apple SSD (like Intel 320), do you need TRIM Enabler on Mac OS X Lion?
See my above comment.
Yes.
If you already have patched with old patcher, install new OS update or reinstall current before you patch.
Works fine here, macbook pro 2011 13′.
Strange things, sound is not working anymore after (like if there is no sound card in the mac). Booting on recovery partition, and repair permissions fix the problem at the next boot, but sound problem comes back after …
Except that problem, everything is working well, Thanks for your job and good luck for your exams.
Thanks,
There was this bug on at least 10.7.1 so I don’t think it’s related to TRIM Enabler.
Works fine with 10.7.2 and OCZ Vertex 3
Back in August installed a Crucial 256GB SSD in my ’08 MBP. I installed your 1.2 Trim Enabler and Voila, About-This-Mac showed trim enabled. Somewhere between then and now an update apparently updated the kernel and deleted the update.
I just installed your 1.7.2 next update – and TRIM Support again shows “Yes”.
Thank you.
BTW – be fascinated to see your source code.
Cheers!
Works fine with MBP 13″ 2010 and Crucial M4 128GB rev9
It doesn’t work as on 25/10 might have been some update.
It doesn’t work as on 25/10 on 2010 MBP something might have changed.
Never mind i take it back It work. Can you please list the files it modifies in .kext. We can only backup those files. Or make it output a log. Thanks for great work.
Hello,
When can we expect full version ? I don’t want to do this on my MB Pro since it is my work computer.
Take care,
P.
… anybody at home?
“full version” will not work any differently except not having to use kexthelper, and provide a “restore” function.
as for the “hack” it’s fully implemented in this version.

Can someone please post a link to a version of KextHelper that works fine with OSX Lion? Thx.

Very nice post. I get a lot information from it.Thank you so much for your sharing.
Undeniably consider that that you stated. Your favourite justification appeared to be
on the net the easiest thing to bear in mind of.
I say to you, I definitely get irked at the same time as
other folks consider issues that they just do not recognize about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the highest and outlined out
the entire thing without having side effect , other people can take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
